Which plums are suitable for this dish?

I prefer to use some plums, prunes (dried plums or Aloo Bukhara), and even dried yellow plums, as they add a sour yet mellow taste and make the dish more colorful

Why do we add sugar?

The sugar is added to create a balanced and tangy taste, but it is optional. The combination of plums and barberries with sugar is amazing; give it a try.

Conclusion

Stew meatballs with plums and saffron next to barberry is a wonderful combination. By adding a little sugar, it gets a sweet and wonderful taste. Remember to add saffron and don’t use tomato paste, its taste and aroma will make you crazy next to Iranian pilaf. Iranian meatballs have a lot of variety, like: Koofteh Berenji (Persian Rice Meatballs), Zereshk Polo Ba Koofteh– Barberry rice with Iranian meatballs.
